Program Overview
Past Participants' Reflections
The following accounts come from students who attended previous workshops.
Chen, BAID Graduate
How would you describe your overall learning experience?
The workshop moved quickly, with two hours of lectures each day, and the learning felt substantial. Listening to lectures entirely in English helped improve my language skills. Afterwards, I spent four to five hours working through the material. New ideas often came to me as I tried to understand it.
My final presentation explored Bayes' theorem. The professor had briefly introduced Bayesian theory and its interpretation of probability as a person's degree of belief in a proposition. That interested me, so I read more and thought about it after class. I wanted to develop a more rigorous account. In my presentation, I used mathematics to explain and analyze the theorem, and the professor appreciated my work. I was very satisfied with what I learned.
Cao, BAID Graduate
What did you gain from the workshop? Which experience felt most rewarding or challenging, and how did you approach it?
The workshop changed how I think and broadened my outlook. Alongside learning new material, I developed ways of thinking and a wider perspective that I believe will support my continued growth.
The Pitch Event was the hardest part. We had to propose a way to increase battery capacity and explain the principles behind it. I started preparing early and devoted considerable time to the work. I reviewed material from the preceding days and consulted research literature, then asked the professor to clarify questions. We were well prepared and successfully delivered our presentation.
