AP Statistics

What Students Learn

Students formulate questions that can be investigated with data, select appropriate sampling or experimental methods, and interpret statistical results. They examine distributions and uncertainty and learn to choose inference procedures and verify their conditions.

Course Units

The units and learning focuses below follow the official AP course framework.

Unit 1: Exploring one-variable data and collecting data

Unit 2: Probability, random variables, and probability distributions

Unit 3: Inference for categorical data: proportions

Unit 4: Inference for quantitative data: means

Unit 5: Regression analysis

AP Assessment

The units follow the revised 2026–2027 framework. The digital AP exam includes 42 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, worth 50%, and four free-response questions in 90 minutes, worth 50%. It assesses data collection and analysis alongside inference and interpretation. Students explain the conditions for their chosen methods and interpret conclusions in context.
