Instructor of Humanities
Catherine G. Petersson is a Canadian educator with a deeply international background and a commitment to global, inquiry-driven education. Having completed the International Baccalaureate, she brings a strong understanding of international education frameworks and the development of globally minded learners. She holds a Master's degree in Human Rights Law from University College London, where her thesis examined transnational corporate regulation and jurisdiction, reflecting her enduring interest in ethics, justice, and global governance.
Earlier in her career, Catherine worked with migrants and asylum seekers entering the European Union, providing educational support and assistance to vulnerable populations, particularly unaccompanied minors. This experience continues to shape her compassionate and inclusive teaching philosophy.
For the past nine years, she has lived and worked in China, teaching Social Studies and Human Geography for over four years, alongside previous roles in language education, curriculum development, and university application advisory. She currently teaches humanities courses at BAID.
Catherine recently completed a PGCEi with the University of Nottingham, producing research on the application of inquiry-based learning in the humanities. This has equipped her to confidently deliver the new inquiry-focused Cambridge Humanities curriculum at the middle school level, fostering critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and student-led exploration in the classroom.
