Drama Festival
At BAID, the Chinese Drama Festival and English Drama Festival alternate each year.
The Chinese Drama Festival gives students interested in performance and theatre production a platform to present a complete theatrical work. Teams can adapt existing Chinese plays, literary works, or classic scripts. Students are also encouraged to write original productions inspired by school life, social issues, literary stories, or personal experiences. Each team takes responsibility for choosing its script and assigning roles, then rehearsing and staging its production for a formal performance. Through creating and performing theatre, students develop their language skills alongside their ability to collaborate and perform on stage, while exploring Chinese literature and the dramatic arts.
The English Drama Festival gives students opportunities to use English and express their ideas through writing and performing theatre. Teams can perform or adapt classic English plays, literary works, or contemporary scripts. Students are also encouraged to write original English scripts and develop their own productions, from choosing a subject and writing the script to rehearsing and designing the stage. Alongside language accuracy, the festival emphasizes characterization and storytelling, teamwork and the overall stage performance. Students develop their English communication skills and creativity while deepening their interest in English literature and theatre.
