What Students Learn

Following the national curriculum, students study Chinese and world history, examining significant events in context. Reading and comparing historical sources develops understanding of the causes and consequences of social change and the ability to explain historical phenomena with evidence.

Learning Focus

1. Chinese history: social development and institutional change

2. World history: the development and connections of civilizations

3. Source reading: evaluate origins and extract evidence

4. Historical explanation: causation and continuity and change

Learning Outcomes

Students place events in their temporal and geographical contexts, distinguish source information from interpretation, and organize evidence to support judgments. Understanding Chinese culture is developed alongside comparative study of world developments.
