Intensive English
What Students Learn
Intensive English accompanies Integrated English Class 7 for students in Grades 9–10 and focuses on TOEFL writing and speaking. Students attend one writing session and one speaking session each week. Lessons take place in a computer lab, using TOEFL practice questions online to develop familiarity with task requirements and response strategies.
Learning Focus
1. Sentence construction and email writing: complete focused sentence construction exercises and practice written responses to email tasks.
2. Academic discussion writing: practice responding to academic discussion tasks and apply these methods in combined writing exercises.
3. Speaking tasks: practice listening and repeating sentences, alongside responses to virtual interview questions, to become familiar with both task formats.
4. Practice and consolidation: progress through focused exercises and periodic quizzes, alongside combined practice. Review sessions precede the midterm and final exams; speaking assignments also include corrections to quiz responses.
Learning Outcomes
Students become familiar with TOEFL speaking and writing task formats and develop appropriate response strategies. Classroom practice and homework reinforce these methods. Students participate actively and bring a notebook and pen to record lesson content.
