GLocal
In this episode of Silver Lining for Learning, Ms. Gao Mengchan, instructor of this course at BAID, discusses GLocal, and students share their experiences with project learning. Listen to the conversation.
What Students Learn
GLocal is a project-based course offered in collaboration with YEE Education that connects global issues with local action. Students learn design thinking and complete one project each semester within a specified theme, investigating needs before developing and implementing a response that they refine through feedback.
Learning Focus
1. Needs and questions: understand the intended community and define a project focus
2. Design thinking: compare ideas and develop a feasible response
3. Project implementation: share responsibilities and put plans into practice
4. Feedback and reflection: evaluate outcomes and communicate the learning process
Learning Outcomes
Students plan and complete a thematic project addressing real needs and explain how feedback informed their decisions. Collaborative work develops problem-solving skills and an understanding of connections between local action and global issues.
