BA × Love and Hope Home · Summer Charity Concert

In the summer of 2024, a unique charity concert unfolded at the auditorium of the Beijing Academy International Division. Organized by Chen Yimo, a student from Class 12A, the concert brought together a diverse range of performers, including the Middle School Dance Troupe, the Acapella Choir, the Beijing Academy International Division Band, its graduates, the Lyraqin Orchestra from Love and Hope Home, as well as Beijing Up School. The aim of the concert was to spread love and hope to children with autism through the power of music. All the proceeds from the concert were used to provide material support for the children at Love and Hope Home.

Through a charity fundraising project run by the student company, Chen Yimo became aware of the Love and Hope Home and the autistic children there. Motivated by the desire to hold a concert for these children, Chen began reaching out to various resources, including the school’s Creative Cultural Society and the Art Center, in an effort to secure sponsorships and support. Four months before the concert, Chen Yimo had already begun contacting the school authorities and Love and Hope Home to seek their support. In early March, Chen personally visited Love and Hope Home to gather materials for the charity’s cultural products. By May, she and fellow student Duan Ruihan had invited numerous talented musicians to join the event. Chen also held multiple meetings with the school’s Art Center and Principal Zhou Hui to discuss the event’s logistics, ultimately ensuring the concert’s successful organization.

The Beijing Academy International Division Summer Charity Concert was divided into two parts: the musical performances and the charity cultural product donation event. During the concert, performances were given by the Beijing Academy International Division Band, the Middle School Dance Troupe, the Acapella Choir, the Lyraqin Orchestra from Love and Hope Home, and even the parents, teachers, and children from Love and Hope Home themselves. Through touching melodies and the language of music, these performances reached into the inner world of the autistic children, allowing them to feel the love and warmth conveyed through each note.

In the second part of the event, the charity cultural product donation ceremony, Chen Yimo collaborated with the BAID Cultural & Creative Store and the student company. Together, they designed T-shirts, notebooks, and other creative products, inspired by the art created by the children of Love and Hope Home. Through donations and sales of these cultural products, the charity donation event raised a total of 4,689 RMB.

The Summer Charity Concert used the power of music as a medium to bring love and hope to the children. It is hoped that this concert will be the starting point, inspiring more people to devote themselves to charity, using music and kindness to warm the hearts of everyone in need of help.
