BAID Student League of Sustainable Development Youth Forum

The Student League of Sustainable Development (SLSD) at Beijing Academy was established in September 2022 as a student organization dedicated to promoting the concept of sustainable development. Through sharing articles, hosting events, and participating in competitions, SLSD aims to raise awareness of sustainable development among students and encourages them to engage in related research and practical activities.

In the summer of 2023, the SLSD hosted a forum in the lecture hall, themed “The Remanufacturing Industry and Sustainable Development.” This forum was organized by the club president, Chen Yige '24, and aimed to explore the potential and challenges of the remanufacturing industry in promoting sustainable development.

With the growing scarcity of natural resources and worsening environmental issues, remanufacturing, as an industry that enables resource recycling, has been receiving increasing attention. SLSD hoped to bring together the insights of young scholars and industry experts to discuss how the remanufacturing industry can better serve sustainable development.

The forum began with a presentation by Chen Yige, who used the remanufacturing of auto parts as an example to share his perspectives on the industry and propose a series of suggestions. Following his speech, Dr. Xu Guochang, along with representatives from international organizations and companies, also shared their views on the remanufacturing industry. In the final part of the forum, SLSD members actively contributed to the discussion, with Xie Yang showcasing data on environmental pollution, emphasizing the importance of the remanufacturing industry, and encouraging students to take daily actions to contribute to sustainable development.

This forum not only delved into the advantages and development prospects of the remanufacturing industry but also highlighted its crucial role in driving sustainable development. The participants presented many innovative ideas and suggestions, offering new perspectives for the future growth of the industry. The success of the forum not only promoted awareness and development of the remanufacturing industry in China but also sparked a sense of responsibility and engagement in the younger generation regarding sustainable development.

By providing a platform for youth perspectives and actions, the SLSD’s forum breathed new life into the growth of the remanufacturing industry. It is hoped that through such activities, more people will be inspired to pay attention to and participate in sustainable development practices, working together to build a greener, more circular, and sustainable future.
