From Ideas to Action: BAID Student Clubs Begin a New Academic Year
This autumn, BAID held its Student Club Fair after completing the application and proposal presentation process for the new academic year. Students selected the clubs they wanted to join, and activities began across campus, marking the start of another year of student club life.
The highlight of this year's club season is seeing plans put into practice. Applications and proposal presentations, followed by students' choices at the Club Fair, have led to students meeting and working together in the new academic year. Through their clubs, students are pursuing their interests together, progressing from individual aspirations to shared action.
Club Proposal Presentations: Presenting Student Projects
This year's student club applications and proposal presentations gave students an opportunity to present their ideas for campus innovation.
Students needed to explain why they wanted to establish their club and which problem it would address. They also described the impact it could have on campus, answering the question of what they could create together.
Art Grove upholds the belief that "art belongs to everyone, every day." It brings students together through activities including henna and lacquered fan making, alongside collage. The club is planning the exhibition Li'anliu, collecting works in various media from 13 artists, and using profits from merchandise to support charitable causes. The Beijing Academy Model Builders Club has brought a 3D printer to campus, helping members explore 3D printing and modeling while guiding them through assembling plastic models and then sanding and painting them. The Aviary, Beijing Academy's bird club, follows a process of observation and documentation, followed by outreach and conservation. Members learn bird identification and ecological surveying, together with scientific data analysis. They also explore the beauty of nature through photography and painting, alongside writing. WebArtistry develops software for everyday campus life. Its products, ranging from the school website to online cafe ordering, now serve students and teachers throughout BAID.
During their presentations, students presented their clubs as projects with clear goals and methods, together with concrete outcomes.
The Student Club Fair: Choosing Your Campus Life
At the Student Club Fair, students actively choose the clubs they wish to join.
Students interested in the arts can explore Art Grove and 2D design, along with graffiti and street dance, or light music and rock. Those interested in science can join The Aviary or the Biodiversity Club, Nexus or Brain Spark Neuroscience Club, or the Rail Transit and Intelligent Control Club. Students who enjoy expressing their ideas can explore Model United Nations and debate, the student newspaper and Beizhong Zhiyin, or Cineclub. Those seeking practical experience can join the BAID Business & Economics Club or The Whale Cafe, or contribute through the BAID Humanity Club.
Each choice answers a question about who students hope to become. Choosing a club means choosing how to participate in campus life.
The New Academic Year Begins with Students Pursuing Their Interests
Student clubs are now active in the new academic year. Art exhibitions are being planned, models are being refined, birdwatching records are growing, and neuroscience discussions are underway. English film screenings and writing activities continue, while Model United Nations members practice their skills. Community service connects the campus with communities farther afield, and The Whale Cafe brings students and teachers together over coffee.
Through repeated collaboration and self-expression, alongside experimentation and persistence, students discover what club participation can offer. Beyond the classroom, they find peers and opportunities to contribute while taking responsibility.
